​APPOINTED MEMBERS (TITLED PERSONS)

The Honorable Pehin Datu Imam Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Hamid bin Bakal was born in 1939, has a qualification of degree (MA) from the University of Al-Azhar and started working on December 24, 1966 as the Superintendent of Information and Tabligh. He had held several posts such as  Religious Education Regulator, Deputy Chief Qadi and Senior Religious Officer. In 1977, he was appointed Chief Qadi until his retirement at the end of 1994. Upon retirement, he was appointed as a member to the Public Service Commission on January 1, 1995 until March 25, 2001 and was later appointed as the Chief Justice Syar'ie in March 26, 2001. He has been working for over 40 years in which he had served in the Syariah Judiciary for more than 26 years. He is also a member of the Privy Council, the Council of Succession, the Islamic Religious Council, the Council of State Customs and was appointed to the Legislative Council on June 1, 2011 (Under The Category of Among the Titled Persons). He was also a member of the delegation of Brunei Darussalam to the 32th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Cambodia in September 2011. He had been reappointed as a Member of the Legislative Council (In The Category of Among the Titled Persons) on January 13, 2017.

 

The Honorable Pehin Orang Kaya Pendikar Alam Dato Paduka Seri Haji Hasrin bin Dato Paduka Haji Sabtu was born on February 25, 1954 and has a qualification of Diploma in Police Science from the National University of Malaysia. He joined the Royal Brunei Police Force on  October 13, 1973 and has worked in various parts of the Royal Brunei Police Force including the Prosecution Section, Police Station, District Police, Police Headquarters, Police Reserve Unit, the Department of Logistics and served as the Sultan Police ADR from 1999 to 2007, Director of Operations, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations Section) and lastly as the Commissioner of Police on February 25, 2011. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council (Under The Category of Among the Titled Persons) on January 13, 2017.

 

The Honorable Pehin Orang Kaya Putera Maharaja Dato Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Ghani bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Dewa Dato Paduka Hj Abdul Rahim was born on October 8, 1946 in Kampung Puni, Temburong, Brunei Darussalam. He had studied at Madrasah Al-Junied, Singapore in 1959. In 1965, he continued his studies at Klang Islamic College, Selangor, Malaysia and in 1968 at the Islamic College Petaling Jaya, Selangor, Malaysia. He also studied at the University of Lancaster, United Kingdom for in-service training at the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Faculty of Arts from 1975 to 1978. He began his career in government departments in 1973, had held the post of Temburong District Officer in 1996 to 1997 before being appointed as the Tutong District Officer from 1997 to 1999 and Belait District Officer from 1999 to 2001. In 2002, he was appointed as the Managing Director of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation as well as the Chief Executive Officer  of Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for the Orphans until 2005. He had been involved in writing and began writing poetry in 1966 at the Klang Islamic College and his work had been published in Restu, the Klang Islamic College’s annual magazine  and was selected to receive the Creative Prize Bahana 2002 (Poetry Category). He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council (Under The Category of Among the Titled Persons) on January 13, 2017.


APPOINTED MEMBERS (DISTINCTION ACHIEVERS)

The Honorable Hj Umarali bin Esung was born on February 10, 1938, has a highest educational certificate of Management - Honors in Mathematics from the Brunei Malay Teachers College. He then served as a Senior Trained Teacher from 1983 to 1993. He is actively involved in various associations including the Tutong District Converts  Association, Kampong Kiudang’s Converts Welfare Body (BASKIM) and Pengiran Muda Abdul Wakeel Takmir Committee. He had received the Tokoh Bakti Hijrah Award for the year 1426H / 2005M in conjunction with the Maal Hijrah 1426/2005 celebration on 9 February 2005. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Among the Persons Who Have Achieved Distinctions).

 

The Honorable Awang Hj Abdul Hamid bin Haji Arsad @ Sabli was born on  April 23, 1948 and had received his education from Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddin College in Bandar Seri Begawan.   He had worked in the Department of Audit for 10 years and subsequently in the Economic Development Board for 4 years. Currently, he is the Chairman of Sabli Group of Companies and is the President of the Association of Travel Agents Brunei (ATAB). He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Among the Persons Who Have Achieved Distinctions).

 

The Honorable Awang Ong Tiong Oh was born on August 28, 1953 in Brunei Darussalam and had studied  at Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College. He first joined Low San Hardware in 1973 and eventually expanded the company to Low San Manufacturing (B) Sdn Bhd in 2011. He is also the Managing Director of the company and had opened another branch called "The Tool Box" in 2010. He is also the Chairman of the Board of Chinese School from 2015 until now. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Among the Persons Who Have Achieved Distinctions).

 

The Honorable Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Hj Abdul Rahman was born on March 5, 1974, has a qualification of Bachelor of Architecture (Hons) from Curtin University of Technology, Perth, Australia and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Hons) in Architecture from Humberside University, United Kingdom. She is also the Director of Eco-Bumi Architecture Firm. She had worked as an Engineer in the Public Works Department, Ministry of Development for 15 years and as a Chartered Architect in the private sector for 6 years. She is a member of the Board of several organizations such as DARE, APEQS, ASEAN Business Advisory Council, East Asia Business Council and a member of the ASEAN Architects Committee (Brunei) as well as the Deputy President and Chairman of the Architects Division Puja (Brunei). She was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Among the Persons Who Have Achieved Distinctions).

 

The Honorable Dayang Nik Hafimi binti Abdul Haadii was born on November 12, 1973, has a qualification of Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture with First Class Honors from Deakin University, Australia and is the Director / Shareholder of  LVK Group of Companies. She is also the director / shareholder of several companies such as LO International Sdn. Ltd., Gunung Intan Company Sdn. Bhd., Mas Sugara Travel Services Sdn. Bhd., The Jag Shop and Bintang Berjaya Company. In 2016, she was appointed as a Board Member of the Brunei Economic Development Board and Darussalam Enterprise. She was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Among the Persons Who Have Achieved Distinctions).

 

The Honorable Dayang Khairunnisa binti Awang Hj Ash'ari was born on December 15, 1987 in Brunei Darussalam. She studied at the King's College London under the scholarship of the government of the United Kingdom - Chevening majoring in MA in Environment, Politics and Globalization in 2016. She is the Co-Founder and Director of Community Engagement Green Brunei from 2012. In 2015, she was awarded the Queen's Young Leaders from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and in 2016 she was conferred the Meritorious Service Medal from His Majesty Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. She was appointed a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Among the Persons Who Have Achieved Distinctions).

 

The Honorable Awang Iswandy bin Ahmad was born on October 19, 1984 in Brunei Darussalam. He worked as a teacher at Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Primary School from 2006 to 2014 before working at the Ministry of Culture Youth and Sports as a Youth and Sports Officer until 2015. Previously he had held the position of Alumni Coordinator at the US Embassy in Brunei Darussalam. He is also the President of Brunei Darussalam’s AIDS Council since 2010. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Among the Persons Who Have Achieved Distinctions).





APPOINTED MEMBERS (DISTRICT REPRESENTATIVES)

The Honorable Pengiran Haji Ali bin Pengiran Maon was born on July 1, 1951 in Brunei Darussalam. He had served in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces as Sergeant Major until 1996. After retiring, he had worked with a private company. He was appointed as the Head Village of Kampung Madang from April 1999 to 2012. Currently, he holds the position of Penghulu Mukim Berakas 'B' from June 2014 until now. He also holds the post of Chairman of the Mukim Berakas ‘B’ Consultative Council, the Co-Chairman of the Senior Citizens Activity Center and a Member of the Advisory Board for the construction of Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque, Manggis, Madang. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Representing Districts).

 

The Honorable Awang Naim bin Haji Kamis was born on November 26, 1959 in Brunei Darussalam. He has a Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education from Jamalul Alam Secondary School. He had formerly held the post of the Third Secretary at the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Vientiane, Laos. On July 2,  2011, he began to hold the position of Penghulu Mukim Kota Batu until now. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Representing Districts).

 

The Honorable Haji Tahamit bin Haji Nudin was born on May 30, 1956 in Brunei Darussalam. He has an educational qualification of  'A' Level and had previously served in the Department of Agriculture and several private sectors. He had held several position of Head Village and Penghulu including Head Village of  Tungku in 1991, Penghulu Mukim Gadong in 2001 and Penghulu Mukim Gadong 'A' from 2009 until now. He had also been appointed as the Economic Chairman of the Penghulu and Village Heads of Brunei and Muara District’s Welfare Body, Chairman of Mukim Gadong 'A' Consultative Council Member, RIPAS Mosque Advisor, Pengiran Muda Abdul Malik Mosque Advisor and Advisor to Sekolah Rimba 1. He had also attended several conferences and seminars abroad, among others South East Asia Convention in 1982 in the Philippines and Thailand in 1984, Pre-Management Orientation Course in Singapura and Brunei Darussalam’s delegation to the AIPA General Assembly in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015.  He had been appointed as a member of the Legislative Council on June 1, 2011 (Representing the Districts) and reappointed again on January 13, 2017.

 

The Honorable Awang Haji Mohimin bin Haji Johari @ Jahari was born on  April 21, 1964 in Brunei Darussalam.   He has a qualification of  GCE 'O' Level from the Sinaut Agriculture Training Center and works as a  businessman. He was appointed as the Head Village of Kampung Limau Manis, Mukim Pengkalan Batu from January 3, 2005 until now. He has been appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Representing Districts).

 

The Honorable Pg Haji Mohamed bin Pg Haji j Osman @ Othman was born on November 29, 1952 in Brunei Darussalam and had received his education at the  the Secondary School Jalan Muara. He had  worked with  Radio and Television Brunei in 1976 to 2007. He was appointed the Head Village of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong and had also held the position of Acting Head Village of Kampong Serasa and RPN Perpindahan Serasa. He is also a member of the Takmir Setia Ali Mosque, Pekan Muara and Kampong Perpindahan Serasa Mosque. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Representing Districts).

 

The Honorable Awang Haji Abdul Hamid bin Haji Mumin was born on  November 8, 1950  and has an educational qualification of the Malaysia Higher Education Certificate. He started working as a trained teacher on  January 1, 1973. He had also held the post of Extra-Curricular Assistant Supervisor in 1990 before being promoted to Extra-Curricular Supervisor from 2000 to 2004 and was Acting Organiser of Extra-Curricular Activities at the Co-curriculum Department, Ministry of Education. He had held the post of Penghulu Mukim Liang from 2004 until now and had been a member of the Executive Committee of the LLRC Club (Liang Lumut Recreational Club) since its establishment in 2004. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Representing Districts).

 

The Honorable Awang Hanapi bin Mohd Siput was born on November 30, 1964 in Brunei Darussalam, has a qualification of  GCE 'O' Level and began working as a Postman Level II in 1990 and later promoted to Postman Level I in 2005. On January 5, 2009, he was appointed as the Head Village of Kampung Labi 1, Mukim Labi until now. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Representing Districts).

 

The Honorable Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong was born on March 1, 1950 in Brunei Darussalam. He has an educational qualification from the Religious Teachers College and formerly served as a Religious Officer and Special Grade Mosque Affairs Officer. On  May 2, 2007, he had held the position of Penghulu Mukim Tanjong Maya, Tutong, until now. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017.

 

The Honorable Awang Ramli bin Haji Lahit was born on July 20, 1950 in Kampung Telisai, Tutong. He holds a Bachelor of Education (Malay stream) and Diploma in Counseling (Malay stream). He had served as a teacher as well as Head of the Department of  Counseling and the President of the Counseling Association of Brunei. He is also active in organizations such as Village and Mukim Consultative Council, Youth Associations and a member of Takmir Mosque. He was a member of the delegation of Brunei Darussalam to the 32th General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) in Cambodia in September 2011. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on June 1, 2011 (Representing Districts) and was re-elected again on January 13, 2017.

 

The Honorable Awang Haji Emran bin Haji Sabtu was born on November 27, 1951 in Brunei Darussalam.   He has a qualification of Bachelor of Arts in Education from University of Brunei Darussalam. He had held several positions such as Trained Religious Teacher, Religious School Inspector, Senior Religious Officer cum the Head of the Temburong District and Imam Level III. On April 4, 2009, he was appointed as the Penghulu Mukim Bokok until now. He was appointed as a Member of the Legislative Council on January 13, 2017 (Representing Districts)."
